Another successful test for the Olympians as they defeated SV Heimstetten (6-1) with a majority of the goals scored by youth team graduates.

THE FIRST HALF

Three days after their first warm-up match, which they won 5-1 against FC Pinzgau, the Olympians were back on deck to take on a new opponent from the German fourth division, SV Heimstetten. The Olympian coach continued his review of the squad, making six changes from the previous match in the starting line-up - that of Sakai, Khaoui, Kamara, Strootman, Payet and Aké.

The Olympians had more difficulty getting into the game and were dangerous from set-pieces. While the Germans were a bit behind in the early stages of the game, it was they who opened the scoring through Skrijelj. A misjudged free-kick from the edge of the box was deflected and the opposing striker struck from the left and found the corner of the net of Mandanda (23'). The Olympians were quick to react and equalised in the next move. Thauvin's fine work on the right side of the area was followed by Sanson's cross, which was met twice by the German goalkeeper, but Aké was able to follow up perfectly. The equaliser did Villas-Boas' side a lot of good, with Florian Thauvin's legs in the box. Already a goalscorer, Aké hit the crossbar from a cross by Thauvin. Shortly before the break, Kamara was on hand to meet Payet's corner at the far post. His attempt, a cross-shot, ended up in the top corner of the German goal. Finally, Aké, for a double, added to OM's tally just before the referee's whistle. At half-time OM led 3-1.

THE SECOND HALF :

Florian Chabrolle.

Almost the entire workforce was modified to start the second period. Only Sanson, Caleta-Car and Sakai remained on the pitch. The 4-3-3 system remained unchanged. Soon the Olympians put their foot on the ball and didn't let their opponents breathe. Florian Chabrolle joined the party by catching the goalkeeper with a nice shot. Benedetto also scored to give OM a 5-1 lead. The Olympians managed the last period well and were able to rely on their own goalkeeper, Yohann Pele, who made two decisive saves (71st, 82nd). As the match was drawing to a close, Rongier ran on and lobbed the German goalkeeper and scored his first goal with OM.

THE SUMMARY:

The Olympians passed their second test with an easy win over SV Heimstetten. The young Olympians from the youth academy scored the majority of the goals. OM's next warm-up match is against FC DAC, a Slovakian top-flight club, on Saturday 25 July at 16.00 hrs.
