Mattéo Guendouzi was born on 14 April, 1999 in Poissy. In 2014, he left the Paris region to join the training centre of FC Lorient. In Brittany, the midfielder played with the youth teams until he joined the First Team. He made his Ligue 1 debut in October 2016 against Nantes. Despite the relegation of the Merlus, he remained with Lorient in 2017-2018 and played 21 games. At the end of the season, he decided to respond favourably to Arsenal's requests. In two seasons in North London, he played 82 games, scored 1 goal and played in the 2019 Europa League final (lost to Chelsea).
His performances with the North London club opened the doors to the French senior team where he was called up twice but never entered the game. With Les Bleus, Mattéo Guendouzi has played for the U18, U19, U20 and U-21 sides.
On the last day of the 2020 transfer window, he was loaned to Hertha Berlin for one season. In the 2020-2021 season, the club from the German capital finished the season in 14th place. He played 24 Bundesliga games with a total of 2 goals and 1 assist.
Mattéo Guendouzi is a modern midfielder, technically strong and with a good passing ability. He is a player of character and has a good vision of the game. These are qualities that he will undoubtedly be able to bring to les Olympeins.
