Hiroki Sakai, is your Olympien of the 2018-19 Season
In his third year wearing the Olympique de Marseille shirt, Hiroki Sakai has won the coveted "Olympian of the Season" honour. The right back, who also helped on the left side, beat Florian Thauvin, in the final fan-vote.
This season, the Japanese fullback played 32 games (27 in L1, 4 in Europa League and 1 in the Coupe de la Ligue) with one goal (in L1) and 5 assists (4 in L1 and 1 in the Cup of the League). But, above all, his fighting spirit led him to win this trophy. Sakai is a player who never lets go, his selflessness and his tenacity have made him one of the fan-favourites at Orange Vélodrome and one of the best at his position in the top flight.
