Olympique de Marseille are delighted to announce the signing of Gerónimo Rulli from AFC Ajax Amsterdam. The 32-year-old goalkeeper has signed for the club after passing his medical.

Trained at Club Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina, Gerónimo Rulli launched his professional career with his formative club on 9 April 2013, aged 20 at the time. After playing 50 games for his hometown club in La Plata, the Argentinian goalkeeper moved to Spain, to Real Sociedad in 2014.

Gerónimo Rulli is a dynamic, agile goalkeeper with a knack for getting things back on track, and despite his young age he impressed in La Liga. With the Basque club, he played 180 games and caught the eye of Argentinian coach Lionel Scaloni. In September 2018, the 1.89m goalkeeper earned his first cap for the Albiceleste, before joining Montpellier HSC in the summer of 2019 and playing 28 games in the French league and cup.

In 2020, after a successful year in the south of France, the Italian-Argentinian last line of defence signed for Villarreal CF. With the yellow submarine, he was one of the main architects of Villarreal's triumph in the UEFA Europa League in the 2020/2021 season, notably saving the decisive penalty against Manchester United in the final. After 80 appearances for the Groguets, Gerónimo Rulli moved to AFC Ajax Amsterdam in 2023, making 28 appearances last season.

An experienced goalkeeper with undisputed leadership qualities, the La Plata native won back-to-back Finalissima 2022, World Cup 2022 and Copa America 2024 titles with his new club team-mate Valentín Carboni.

Welcome to OM, Gerónimo!
