Official Communication from OM
Jean-Claude Giuntini, was appointed to lead the elite group and internal management academy training. Denis Moutier, has been appointed head of pre-academy training.
They will both report to the director of the OM Academy training centre, Nasser Larguet, and will take up their positions at the beginning of July 2021.
Nasser Larguet: "I am delighted with the creation of these two new positions within the academy training centre, which illustrates the desire of the club and its president, Pablo Longoria, to make youth development and training an even greater part of the club's project. The arrival of these two professionals, recognised in their fields, will enable us to take things to a new level."
Well-known in the football world, Jean-Claude Giuntini has held numerous positions within the FFF's National Technical Directorate: responsible for the national teams (from U16 to U19) for many years, he notably led the 1998 generation to the European U17 championship title in 2015 and led the 2002 generation to the podium at the U20 World Cup in 2019. In charge of academy training, but also of coordinating youth centres and training centres as well as observing matches for the senior team during international competitions, he has also held the position of deputy DTN from 2017 to 2020.
Jean-Claude Giuntini: "I have a special relationship with Nasser Larguet, a professional and friendly relationship. The contact was established a few months ago and has been maintained ever since. After Nasser's venture as interim manager with the professionals, the contact was reactivated and led to a common path. On a personal level, I am very proud and grateful to the club, which presented the project to me in a very constructive, attractive and motivating way. It is a return to my roots for me, because it is my club of heart despite my former federal functions, where there was a principle of neutrality, today I can say that I am happy to integrate the Olympique de Marseille and to bring my stone to the building in order to help our young players progress from the region and elsewhere."
For his part, Denis Moutier has held the position of director of the Pôle Espoirs in Aix-en-Provence since 2015 and previously worked as a coach in training centres in Gueugnon, Sedan and Sochaux.
Denis Moutier: "I have been in contact with the club for several years now, I am regularly asked to join but there is always a question of timing. In previous years, the time was not right in relation to the functions that I occupied within the Pôle Espoirs structure. There is an extraordinary pool of talent here to develop and I think that OM has a lot of arguments to put forward in order to train the best players for the top level. It's a great challenge and I arrive to a club where I know a lot of people like Nasser Larguet, Jean-Claude Giuntini - with whom I have already worked at the Espoirs Centre of Aix-en-Provence - we have a very important relationship of trust but also some coaches in position at the club with whom I had the chance to work in different structures. There are many elements that make me want to be part of this adventure with people I appreciate on a human and professional level."
