The reaction at the press conference of our coach, Roberto De Zerbi, after his team's resounding 5-1 victory against AS Saint-Etienne at the Orange Vélodrome.

Roberto De Zerbi: ‘We're having a good run’

We've come a long way. We were good, mentally and physically. We're happy. There are still games to play. We can still improve. In the first half, we could have been hungrier to score, we had so many chances but we only scored one goal. It's a shame we conceded a goal. But it was still a good game from us.

Amine Gouiri is a very, very strong player. He must think he's a real number 9. It's good to play in several positions, but he needs to specialise as a number 9. He needs to know where the goals are at all times and improve his finishing. If he can do that, he'll be a top player.

Football is great because next week there's a match in Auxerre and the score will be 0-0 at kick-off. We don't have a goal lead coming from the Orange Vélodrome. There are no easy matches. We have prepared well for this match against ASSE, especially mentally. We mustn't forget the first leg against Auxerre.

Our aim was to win and take a nine-point lead over third place before their game. There is a lot of motivation and stimulation. We are doing well, the transfer window brought in some good players, but there is still a long way to go.

We are an important club and organisation and we have a big stadium. If we play in a European competition next year, we can't expect to have eleven players. We have to help the players who have less playing time, but these players have to understand that this is part of the process.

After yesterday's training, Luiz Felipe Ramos felt a pain in his calf. We didn't take any risks, especially since Leonardo Balerdi is suspended at Auxerre. Queton Merlin is unlucky but he has the confidence of the team and the staff. Amar Dedić is also an important player for us.

Working here is a chance, a privilege. It is something to defend and protect. This connection is important, it fills us with pride, me and all the people who work here.

Everyone has to score and everyone has to defend. You have to play with and without the ball to get the result. Daily work pays off. You shouldn't force players to do things, but explain to them why they have to do them. It's a professional satisfaction to convince them to do things.
